    CABLE ADVISORY UPDATE

The Cable Advisory Committee would like to remind you that on February 17, 2009, the federal government will no longer allow analog channels, and broadcasting will be exclusively in digital format.  Your options at that time are to buy a digital-to-analog converter to use with your analog TV, buy a new digital TV, or subscribe to cable or another video service provider.     If your decision is to purchase a digital converter to use with your current TV, you may want to access www.dtv.gov for information on the federal program, which provides $40 coupons towards the purchase of the converter (which cost between $40 – 70 per unit).  Coupon supplies are limited, and they expire 90 days after they are mailed.   Requests must be received by March 31, 2009.   You may also call 1-888-388-2009 for details.  Act quickly to take advantage of this federally funded program.

Get Up to $3,000 to replace your oil tank!

Thanks to a new state program, New Jersey homeowners can apply for grants that in many cases will fully cover the cost of replacing a nonleaking, underground oil tank.  Today’s tanks are safe and corrosion protected, so you can safely store hating oil in the ground; in a basement, garage or utility room; or outside your home.  Your local heating oil dealer will be happy to help you with the application process.  To find out more about the tank grant program, visit www.NewTanksNJ.org.

Stray cats can be a problem

Here are some organizations that may be able to help, in the event you have a stray cat problem.  “Save Our Strays” – (908) 995-7055, “Caring for Cats” – (908) 246-2562, and Alley Cat Allies at alleycat@alleycat.org.  There is also a website www.petfinders.com  where other information is available.  We hope knowledge of these groups and websites may help.
