A special meeting of the East Amwell Township Committee came to order at 7:15 PM.    Present were Mayor Peter Kneski, Deputy Mayor Linda Lenox, and Committee members Patricia Cregar and Larry Tatsch.   Committee member Timothy Martin was absent.

In compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, a copy of notice of this meeting was filed in the Clerk's Office, posted on the bulletin board, and sent to the Hunterdon County Democrat, Times of Trenton, and Star Ledger on January 20, 2009. The purpose of this meeting is to interview a candidate for a position on a 2009 board/committee.     The public is invited to attend and comment.  Action may or may not be taken.

Angelo Lovisa, a resident on Rileyville Road, was interested in serving on the Recreation Committee.   The Clerk explained that Mr. Lovisa attended the Recreation Committee last week, and Chairman Dennis Hajek is supportive of Mr. Lovisa's appointment.

As background information, Mr. Lovisa provided the following:  his family moved to East Amwell Township in 2007 and he has been doing a lot of work on his property; he is originally from Oakland in Bergen County and was active in recreation and scouting there; his daughter is attending The College of New Jersey, and his family chose East Amwell Township for the school system for his son, who is in 6th grade.   Mr. Lovisa is a consultant for Hewlitt Packard, currently working in New York until February and will be transferred elsewhere.  He is able to work from his home and would be able to attend meetings on a regular basis.

Mr. Lovisa provided the Township Committee with an update on the planned activities by the Recreation Committee, as discussed at their reorganization meeting.   Mr. Tatsch commented on the scope of the Recreation Committee increasing over the years from the predominantly sports oriented program to a more general program, including concerts and movies.

The Township Committee will be discussing an appointment recommendation at the regular meeting this evening, and the Clerk will notify Mr. Lovisa of the decision.

There being no further business, motion by Mr. Tatsch, seconded by Ms. Lenox, and it was carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
