A special meeting of the East Amwell Township Committee came to order at 7:15 PM. Present were Mayor Peter Kneski, Deputy Mayor Linda Lenox, and Committee member Timothy Martin. Committee members Patricia Cregar and Larry Tatsch were absent.
In compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, a copy of notice of this meeting was filed in the Clerk's Office, posted on the bulletin board, and sent to the Hunterdon County Democrat, Times of Trenton, and Star Ledger on April 21, 2009. The purpose of this meeting is interview a candidate for a 2009 board or committee. The public is invited to attend. Action may or may not be taken.
Sande Katz, a resident on North Hill Road, was interviewed for a position on the Recycling Committee. Ms. Katz has lived in East Amwell for over 20 years and has two children in college. She has extra time available to her, and she has participated at the recycling depot.
Mr. Martin, as the Township Liaison to the Recycling Committee, gave an overview of the Recycling Committee's activities. Topics discussed included regulations pertaining to recycling, tonnage reports, collections in the Township, the regard that New Jersey as a whole does not score high on recycling, initiatives being undertaken to encourage recycling (including 4H events), etc. Mr. Martin commented favorably on the membership of the Recycling Committee as an enjoyable, hard-working group.
Ms. Katz will be available for the monthly Recycling Committee meetings, and her appointment to the Committee will be considered at the regular meeting later tonight.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Ms. Lenox, seconded by Mr. Martin, and carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
