The East Amwell Township Committee has appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to help determine the need, and funding possibilities for the Summer Playground Program.
This program has historically been provided by the Township of East Amwell but has become increasingly difficult to fund and oversee. Prior to the start of the Summer Playground program for 2011, the Township Committee discussed an ordinance to charge a fee for participation. Public comment revealed that there were many perspectives involving the charging of the fee and the value of the program itself. Although a fee was not charged for 2011, the Summer Playground program is being reviewed to determine if, and how, it might continue in the future.
The Ad Hoc Committee has developed a questionnaire and is distributing it to residents through the East Amwell School where the majority of those most likely to utilize the program will be reached. (Mid October 2011)
