Zero Waste Boxes
The Recycling Committee are always looking for new ways to expand recycling within East Amwell!
Introducing our first TerraCycle Zero Waste Box!
This box is for the disposal of all SMALL (max 1.5") metal bottle caps! These small caps can cause issues with conveyor belts at the recycling plants and are generally trashed if they fall through the machinery. Caps larger than 1.5" can go in the regular recycling. The general rule now in the recycling world is to keep all plastic caps on their containers for recycling. The recycling plants have the facility to handle the separation of the two types of plastic. By depositing the small caps in the Zero Waste Box we can ensure ALL caps are recycled responsibly by TerraCycle!
Metals are smelted so they may be recycled.
We are looking at obtaining more Zero Waste Boxes for other hard to recycle products! Under consideration are:
- Electronic cables, wires, power strips
- Coffee Capsules
- Office Supplies
- Glue Sticks and Bottles
- Media Storage

NEW Zero Waste Boxes for Plastic Straws and Candy Wrappers
As of July '19 we now have two new collection boxes for plastic straws and candy wrappers available at the monthly recycling depot. We would like everyone to try where possible not to use plastic straws (there are other metal/silicone reusable options available now),however, if you do use single use plastic straws please wash/collect them SEPARATE from other Terracycle items and deposit in our zero waste box at the depot. Please collect all candy wrapper SEPARATE from other Terracycled items and deposit in the zero waste box.
